I see You

I see you, lying there, seemingly complacent
letting your body wrap around the entire bed, one leg twisted
one bent, around the pillow
you look as though you admire this morning: this stillness
but I see you, your minds life churning in circles
I see you, not sleeping, using words in your mind
Rehearsing dialogue for the things you want to tell me.
I see you giving birth to ideas as you pretend to sleep, I know
no matter how many times I beg you, cleverly seduce you into
conversation, you’ll never tell me the things you keep
in these thoughtful pseudo-sleeps you engage in
I see you, no matter how many times, I see a new side of you
I think this is what keeps me loving you, or at least attached to you
because I can see you in so many different lights: some disgust me, some
remind me of how & why we got here, how many times I can see you
with my same eyes, you differently seen, an actor of many kinds
I see you trying to dream of a way to say it’s over
